Who is this Sharon Moore person?

Up in the northwest corner of the United States of America lies Seattle, a city which stands on a bridge between seemingly disparate ideas and impulses - a city of split personalities. The "Emerald City" is steeped in rich history, founded by brave pioneers who struggled across long miles to settle in this lush region; and at the same time is a bustling hub of modern innovation and technology. Artistically diverse, sitting at a trade-route crossroads between East and West, Seattle is peopled with creative visionaries who continue the trailblazing traditions of the first settlers--artists who revel in every opportunity to draw from the richness of the past and re-imagine it for today and into the future.

Sharon "Shay" Moore was born and raised in this eclectic city, and her work in tribal bellydance is a reflection of its influence. She is at once a lover of things traditional, while always endeavoring to keep her art fresh and relevant for today's audiences. Her artistic "split personality", the essence of her beloved hometown, is what drives her to continually study diverse forms of performance art and movement and respectfully integrate them into her dance.

Shay is a certified instructor in both the Gypsy Caravan tribal style (mentored personally by director Paulette Rees-Denis in 2001) and American Tribal Style (ATS Certified Teacher, trained by Carolena Nericcio of FatChanceBellyDance), and has completed Jamila Salimpour Level 1 intensive training. Combining her cabaret and folkloric past with her tribal and fusion bellydance present, she continues to enjoy exploring the nuances of various bellydance philosophies and aesthetics, along with her beloved dance sisters, as co-director of inFusion Tribal Bellydance.

Shay believes the core of tribal bellydance is not only based in our strength and technique as dancers, but also in our creative spirit and sense of connectedness with fellow dancers in our community and around the globe. It is the persistent intention to follow her own artistic instincts which keeps Shay's work refreshingly unique and evocative of her vivacious spirit. She carries this intention into her career performing tribal bellydance and in her teaching, helping to guide other women on a path to their own artistic expression.
